The selection of the single champion in the manufacturing industry started in 2016 and is conducted once a year. The selection requirements are high and the selection process is strict. As early as 25 years ago, in 1996, Shangshang Group launched the battle for nuclear cable research and development.

In fact, until 2004, the construction of nuclear power plants in China was still in a stage of moderate development. Although some of the Qinshan and Daya Bay nuclear power plants have been put into operation, the number of newly built nuclear power plants in the country is very small, and the total installed capacity of nuclear power plants is relatively low. The proportion of nuclear power generation is also relatively small.

In the eyes of many people, the products used in nuclear power plants are like a "moon in the water", with a narrow market and high production technology difficulty. The industry, including internal technical personnel, advised Chairman Ding Shanhua not to exploit this "pig's gall".

Faced with fear and pessimism, Ding Shanhua remained steadfast in his belief in exploration.

For the current third-generation nuclear power, the lifespan of nuclear cables must reach 60 years, and they must be resistant to corrosion, high temperature, and high pressure. He said that today it seems that Ding Shanhua's initial decision was very visionary.

The research and development of Shangshang Nuclear Cable has encountered three obstacles: firstly, there is no mature standard in China to serve as a basis; Secondly, there are no ready-made materials to use, and there are no domestic suppliers, while foreign countries are under lockdown; The third issue is the lack of testing equipment, especially those that can withstand high temperature and high pressure.

"However, we have similar experience in material research and development, key processes, and technologies, which can lay the foundation for the research and development of nuclear cable materials. We have a professional research and development team with technical accumulation in product structure design and process research. The company provides strong support for everything that needs to be invested in research and development. Liang Fucai told reporters that Shangshang's nuclear cable not only improves and improves the K3 class cable used outside the safety shell of nuclear power plants, but also builds the K1 class nuclear cable used inside the safety shell of nuclear power plants, taking the lead in developing third-generation nuclear cables internationally, filling the world gap.".

Ding Zhihong, the general manager of the group, stated that at a new starting point, the group will double its efforts, not only to serve domestic nuclear power plants, but also to go abroad.
