In August 1967, Shangshang's predecessor, Liyang County Grinding Wheel Factory, was established, marking the beginning of Shangshang's arduous and glorious history of struggle.

In February 1968, it was renamed as "Liyang County Diamond Sand Products Factory", with the ability to process the entire process of diamond sand products from raw materials to finished products. Later, it sought to switch industries due to unsold products.

In April 1971, it was renamed as "Liyang County Electric Wire Factory" and officially switched to producing electric wires. In May, the most primitive product of Shangshang, ordinary wires, was born.

In October 1983, Ding Shanhua was appointed as the director of the Electric Wire Factory, ushering in a new era of development for the factory.

In 1985, the mining signal cable jointly developed by the wire factory and Changzhou Automation Research Institute passed the national appraisal, filling the domestic gap in one fell swoop.

In May 1987, it was renamed as "Jiangsu Liyang Cable Factory". With the successful development of plastic power cables and flame-retardant rubber sheathed cables, the enterprise has officially completed a significant transition from producing wires as the main focus to producing cables.

In 1992, the cable factory took the lead in achieving output value and sales exceeding 100 million yuan in Liyang City. The enterprise organized employees to report good news to the Liyang Municipal Government.

In 1996, the company introduced the first and most advanced Finnish Marafel chemical cross-linking production line in the history of the factory, and thus the upper cable entered the national power system.

In August 1998, the company was officially renamed as Jiangsu Shangshang Cable Group Co., Ltd.

In September 2001, Shangshang completed the shareholding system transformation and became a private enterprise, thus entering the fast lane of development. In the same year, Shangshang took the lead in implementing ERP information engineering in the industry, and enterprise management began to move towards standardization, refinement, and digitization.

In 2004, Shangshang was the first in the industry to receive two honors: "National Inspection Exemption" and "Chinese Famous Brand"; In October 2006, Shangshang was awarded the title of "China Famous Trademark".

In March 2007, the first batch of 1E class K1 class nuclear cables independently developed by Shangshang passed the acceptance inspection smoothly, filling the domestic gap and ending China's history of relying solely on imports for K1 class nuclear cables.

In August 2008, Shangshang signed the largest cable contract in the history of China's nuclear power construction and development with CGN, with a total amount of 510 million yuan.

In 2009, the global financial crisis further escalated into an economic crisis, and in an exceptionally difficult external environment, the unprecedented large-scale technological transformation of Xichang District with a total investment of 2.3 billion yuan kicked off.

In May 2010, the first phase of the Shangshang West Factory Area project - Special Cable Project (120000 square meters) was fully completed and put into operation. Among them, the production scale of 35kV and below plastic cables, rubber cables, and nuclear cables ranks first in the country.

At the end of 2010, Shangshang Cable signed the first batch of nuclear island cable contracts for third-generation nuclear power AP1000

In 2011, Shangshang built the world's first "ultra-high voltage centralized control system"

In 2011, Shangshang's sales exceeded the 10 billion mark for the first time, marking a new journey for Shangshang Development.

On November 5, 2011, Shangshang's independently developed third-generation nuclear power AP1000 nuclear island cable was successfully delivered, marking a good start to the localization of China's third-generation nuclear power 1E level nuclear island cable.

In 2011, Shangshang Cable was awarded the title of the only "Equipment China Meritorious Enterprise" in the industry

On April 27, 2013, Shangshang's independently developed third-generation nuclear power AP1000 in shell cables were successfully delivered, filling the world gap with one fell swoop, and Shangshang's nuclear cable development technology entered the forefront of the world.

In September 2014, the China Cable Industry Conference first announced the ranking of enterprises, ranking first among the "most competitive enterprises in the Chinese cable industry"; At the same time, in the world cable enterprise scale ranking released by the international authoritative organization CRU, it ranks first in China and tenth in the world.

In May 2015, the newly built 6000 square meter technology center in the southern factory area was fully completed and put into operation, and a first-class domestic cable product and material research and development pilot platform was built, leading the industry in overall scientific research hardware level.

At the end of 2015, the third phase of the West Factory Area project - the medium voltage cable and special control cable workshop (totaling 73000 square meters) - was fully completed and put into operation. As a result, the third phase of the West Factory Area project was fully put into operation, with an overall production capacity of 20 billion yuan, laying a more solid foundation for product refinement, specialization, and batch production.

In 2016, the Quality Award was held for three years and took three major steps. After winning the first and only "Changzhou Mayor Quality Award" (2013) and "Jiangsu Province Quality Award" (2014), it was nominated for the "China Quality Award".

In 2017, the company held a grand 50th anniversary celebration, with fifty years of changes and fifty years of success. Standing on a historical coordinate point that connects the past and opens up the future.
